Bridge Formation and Cytoplasmic Flow between Phagocytic Cells
نویسنده
چکیده
A simple chamber was constructed for observation of cells at 37 degrees C and under high magnification. Rabbit peritoneal histiocytes observed in this chamber manifested a constant interaction, which lasted as long as the preparation itself. This interaction consisted of formation of cytoplasmic bridges and flow of cytoplasm between the cells. Lung macrophages formed bridges both between themselves, and with peritoneal histiocytes. On the other hand, no bridges were noticed between histiocytes and polymorphonuclears or fibroblasts. BCG bacteria were observed passing from one histiocyte to another. Autoradiographic studies suggest that RNA may be transferred from one cell to another. The possible significance of these observations is discussed.

Actomyosin contractility regulators stabilize the cytoplasmic bridge between the two primordial germ cells during Caenorhabditis elegans embryogenesis
Stable cytoplasmic bridges arise from failed cytokinesis, the last step of cell division, and are a key feature of syncytial architectures in the germline of most metazoans. Whereas the Caenorhabditiselegans germline is syncytial, its formation remains poorly understood. We found that the germline precursor blastomere, P4 , fails cytokinesis, leaving a stable cytoplasmic bridge between the two ...
متن کاملAnalysis of Flow Pattern with Low Reynolds Number around Different Shapes of Bridge Piers, and Determination of Hydrodynamic Forces, using Open Foam Software
In many cases, a set of obstacles, such as bridge piers and abutments, are located in the river waterway. Bridge piers disrupt river’s normal flow, and the created turbulence and disturbance causes diversion of flow lines and creates rotational flow. Geometric shape and position of the piers with respect to flow direction and also number of piers and their spacing are effective on changing the ...
متن کاملConstriction Scour In Pressurized Flow Condition (RESEARCH NOTE)
When depth of flow past a river bridge exceeds opening under the bridge, the flow under the bridge becomes pressurized. The water is directed downward and under the bridge deck, causing increase in velocity and shear stress on the bed thereby increasing bed scour. This is termed as Pressure Flow Scour. The present study investigates the phenomenon of pressure flow scour resulting from a submerg...
متن کاملAuto-antibodies in Patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease Unclassified
Background: Inflammatory bowel disease unclassified (IBDU) is considered to be an aberrant immune response with loss of tolerance to many antigens. Objective: This paper tries to address whether there is any value to test for auto-antibodies in such patients. Methods: 60 patients with inflammatory bowel disease unclassified participated in the study. Auto-antibodies to nuclear antigen, intestin...
متن کاملPhagocytosis of apoptotic cells by macrophages in anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated systemic vasculitis.
Anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAV) is a group of autoimmune diseases, including granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) and microscopic polyangiitis (MPA). It is not known why ANCA develop, but it has been shown that they participate in pathogenesis by activating polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMNs). In this study we hypothesize that dysregulation of phagocyt...
